The Department of Environmental Toxicology performs laboratory and field studies related to the chemistry and environmental ecotoxicology of various inorganic and organic pollutants in outdoor and indoor air, water, sediments, soil, and their impact on ecosystem and human health. Understanding the processes involved in the interaction of pollutants with the environment is essential in prevention, reduction and mitigation of their human and ecotoxicological impact. In our studies we use a combination of analytical methods (GC-MS, GC-MS-MS, HPLC, LC-MS-MS), bioassays (YES-YAS, ELISA, etc.), ecotoxicological tests (Microtox) and chamber techniques. We also educate students and young scientists in the field of environmental chemistry and health assessment.
